Overview
The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular trekking routes, offering trekkers an immersive experience of the diverse Himalayan landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This 18-day trek begins in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, where you’ll explore historical sites before heading to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region. The trek itself starts from Nayapul, leading you through lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and traditional Gurung villages.
As you ascend, you’ll pass through picturesque villages like Ghorepani and Tadapani, with the highlight being a sunrise view from Poon Hill. The trail continues to Chhomrong, and then to the beautiful Machhapuchhre Base Camp, offering stunning views of the Fish Tail Mountain. The final ascent to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters provides an awe-inspiring panoramic view of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre.
Throughout the trek, you’ll stay in cozy teahouses, experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the local people. The return journey includes visits to hot springs and more picturesque villages, before concluding back in Pokhara and Kathmandu. This trek is moderate in difficulty, suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and a sense of adventure.
