Pete and Paul

Pete Brittleton and Paul Etheridge have climbed together for many years and have developed what they believe to be a unique and individual experience for true mountaineers.

Pete Brittleton started is journey sport climbing the hot rock of southern Spain and Portugal. Back in the UK, he was a competitor in many national fell races and he still holds some of those titles 30 years on. Pete now concentrates on cycling the hills and fells of the Lake District, again holding his own in competitive races in the gorgeous landscape.

For his fiftieth birthday, he rode Land’s End to John O’Groats non-stop, raising money for charity. Pete is an accomplished mountaineer who summited Everest in 2008 and has also climbed on Manaslu, Broad Peak, Cho You and the notorious K2. Pete is a true athlete and mountaineer who is passionate about the sustainable use of resources on expeditions. He has championed the use of human transport over the use of animals in developing countries and heads up our training for partners in animal protection.

Paul Etheridge’s introduction into mountaineering came from his Scouting days when he was taught climbing in the mountains of North Wales. From those beginnings, he gained mountaineering qualifications which eventually led to him to becoming a guide.

Paul has led expeditions around the world. Although he feels most at home in the remote regions of Pakistan and Nepal, Paul has climbed all over the European Alps and in South America and as also climbed on the notorious K2 in Pakistan.

Paul is responsible for all the logistics associated with our expeditions and leads on the in-country training for porters and Sherpas. He is proud to have taught on the highest training camp in Pakistan, at an altitude of 5100 metres.
