Overview

The Shishapangma expedition is a remarkable journey into the heart of the Tibetan Himalayas. As the only 8,000-meter peak situated entirely in Tibet, Shishapangma holds a unique allure, known locally as “the god of the grasslands.” Our 39-day itinerary is meticulously planned to ensure proper acclimatization and includes plenty of rest days. Starting in Kathmandu, we drive to Timure and cross the Tibetan border, experiencing the rich culture and stunning landscapes en route to the Chinese Base Camp. From there, we trek to the Advanced Base Camp, where the climbing phase begins. The route takes us through several high-altitude camps, with breathtaking views and challenging terrain. Shishapangma is known for its dramatic southern face and the technical demands of its ascent, making it a coveted summit for serious climbers. Our experienced Sherpa team, comprehensive support, and focus on safety ensure you have the best possible chance of a successful and memorable climb.

Full details

Shishapangma, at 8,025 meters, is the lowest of the world’s fourteen 8,000-meter peaks, but it presents significant challenges. The mountain was the last 8,000er to be climbed due to political restrictions, adding to its mystique. The climb begins from the Chinese Base Camp, progressing through the Advanced Base Camp, and up to the higher camps positioned at 6,400 meters, 6,800 meters, and 7,450 meters. The final ascent involves crossing glaciers, steep snowfields, and navigating crevasses. The expedition is designed for climbers with previous high-altitude experience, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the physical and technical demands. With our expert guides and robust logistical support, climbers can focus on the ascent, knowing that their safety and success are our top priorities.
